I have worked tirelessly over the last 8 years, and I have come a mighty long way.
From a little girl running away from her own trauma, to boldly owning my story and using it to heal others.
I have had to fight my way out of depression, tooth and nail. I convinced myself that I believed in me even when I didn’t. With the help of a therapist I pushed through even when I struggled. I swallowed my fear and did it anyway.
And now I have used my platform to bring others along. With the launch of my private practice and the amplification of other black therapist who like myself just want to do the necessary work to heal our community, our hard work has not gone unnoticed.
I was awarded my Masters in Social Work from NYU Silver School of Social Work. Field Advisor for Columbia University’s School of Social Work, following being awarded the certificate Seminar in Field Instruction. In 2019, Banks was awarded Congressional Research Institute for Social Work and Policy (CRISP) Outstanding Individual in Business, and in 2020-2022 she was elected Vice President and Chair of Diversity for the New York State Chapter of NASW.
I will lead the charge to help social workers in NYS, and beyond live up to our code of ethics. And continue to provide quality care to my clients.
